I was there last night, and in their Mystery Snail tank they had a couple loaches in with them! There were even empty snail shells. Poor things. There was no one around, but next time I go there, I'm going to try to tell them loackes eat snails...

There are some pretty sad snail tanks out there...I cruised 7 different LFS and only found a small number that were not dead, just close to it...The worst offender was Petsmart...All these empty shells and operculums everywhere...Most of the snails at he various LFS were incorrectly identified and I think that is what has led to alot of anti-snail sentiment...I saw a batch of "columbian ramshorns" identified as Brigs...Oh what a mess those "brigs" would make of a planted tank! On a lighter note-I scored a nice Cana a while back at Petsmart. They were identified as Brigs -they were Canas..Speed was the only decent one of the bunch and at first I too thought she was a Brig...I am going back on Tuesday to hopefully score another one!

I went to our local BigA$$PetStore tonight to see if they had ghost shrimp. No. But while I was there a lady was asking about 'some of those sucker fish that clean the tank'. The clerk sold her 2 plecos. Didn't ask how big a tank or what was in it. Then she asked about 'those feeder things for when you go on vacation' for goldfish. She's putting the plecos in with gold fish? Heated or not? I was so...so... so...Well, you know. I went elsewhere and bought two kuhlis.
Khulis.
Coolies.
Whatever.
On a lighter note, as soon as I released the k's into the tank one of them dove headfirst into the gravel. "Look, kids. New fish! See the tail sticking up out of the gravel?"
