I have just aquired an Eheim 2329 External canister filter which has been used on a Marine Tank. Can anyone forsee any problems using this filter on a Freshwater Tank? It will obviously be cleaned very well before use. Your thoughts would be appreciated. I know the saltwater version of this filter has a different heater to cope with corrosion but is that the only difference?

The SW version of the heating element is the significant difference, and the SW version is fully suitable for FW use.

You are aware that this is a biofiltration-only unit, and the mechanical filtration needs to be separately provided?

I would not reuse the media which was used for SW if it is the Eheim Substrat, but would replace it.

These are good and long-lasting units.
