View Full Version : Your ColdWater Pictures
Would be nice to see other people's photos of their coldwater tanks or ponds.
Im looking for some new inspiration. Once i have set up my new water-butt pond in the spring, i am going to start a new project hopefully.
As i said, would be great to see your pictures for inspiration ;)

heres my small preform. its 165 gallons but its 24" deep so thats pretty decent for a preform
i have 9 comets and shubunkins all about 4" long. they are all doing well, i can see them hanging out under the ice. last week we had a warm spell and the pond thawed out and i was happy to see everyone was ok and became quite active

mine is cold... 13,000 + filtration, 5.5-6 foot deep when full all the way. I dropped the water level so I could drain the skimmer so it wouldn't freeze and to get the water below the wind. DIY deicer keeps a hole open
Have 8 koi in there now..somewhere under the ice. 9 fish in quarantine in the greenhouse just waiting for spring so I can put them in.

this tank is cold in the since that it is at room temperature... and has coldwater fish in it... those other ponds are like super cold! the heater in the back of the picture is not plugged in and is now in another tank
the current inhabitant (the minnow that u see in this picture jumped out... thatl teach me to use an active fish in a 10gal...) is a VERY small yellow bullhead catfish, i have a river going across my propety, so im gona let him go as soon as he gets to be 5inches, right now hes probably 3.5 and when i got him he looked like a tadpole...
the big black thing is a motor that moves the water and airates it, it makes the tank more like a river, and the rocks (except for the big black ones) come from a local stream, lightning comes from a desk lamp... so the plants are low light and hardy the catfish (hideing under a rock in this picture) usually hides on the left side in between the two gray limestone rocks and is active at night... the minnows when i had them (i need a top) used to lay parralell with the bottom like they did in the river in which i found them, so the current duplicates the river well.
