who uses these, they seem to be pretty cool and they do a pretty good job. My only concern its that I'm not sure how well they are sealed. If the aren't sealed extremely well, they could cause metal contamination. Has anyone else ever thought of this?
No, never thought of it. What kind of metal contamination would it cause? I use the Mag-Float. I don't store mine in the tank so it's only in the water for a few minutes a couple times a month...maybe.
I (I hate to admit ) store mine in the tank, and have not had any concerns. I also use the Mag-Float brand, as they are by far the most user friendly. I don't really reccomend leaving them in the tank (algae grows on them just as well as everything else) but am usually too lazy to take it out and put it away.

god bless the Mag Float !
I need to get a small one for my smaller tanks. Too much magnetic power on the big Mag Float. I need exercise, but not that much.
They were made to be in the water, so I have no worries about what's inside them.
Since they do float, you've got to be "really" lazy if you don't take it out after use.
