I have a thin, clear airtube running into my tank for an airstone, its running straight from an airpump which i run every now and then. after a day or two the tubing is now an opaque white color. What is the problem? Is it just cheap tubing? its sold as aquarium tubing

How long have you had it? Most (if not all) aquarium air-line tubes will do this after a while. Has it stiffened up yet? (Harder to bend)

its just slime...its all over your tank you just dont see it...you should get black air tubeing..no one will notice it haha

Black tubing also doesn't do the situation I described either. (Lasts a whole lot longer, and its ozone safe too)

Hrm, not all black tubing is ozone safe. The "Stealth" black tubing (I ferget who makes it) will degrade when used with CO2. Ozone safe tubing will not, and it's also a lot more expensive.

You may be thinking of silicone tubing, although I've not seen a black color, which is ozone resistant. It will degrade too, but it takes a lot longer.

I used my stealth stuff for a week with DIY CO2 while I waited for the ozone stuff to get and it turned into a sticky mush at one end. Almost gelatinous. Was rather gross :)

I had it for a day, does that mean I'm having issues w/ the water/air in the tank? I'd get black tubing if I had a black background, but its a hex tank, so it looks ugly. Never knew tubing was so complicated, what a dissapointment.
