I was looking at where my paradise fish like to hang out at.. and I think they have a bubble nest. I know I said I got both females, but the LFS I think was wrong.
From what you guys have said about them being horridly aggressive while breeding, I'm worried about my krib babies. Here's some pics to get a positive identification. I also have some more krib pics with updates of the fry.(week old now)

Well, I can give you pics from my pair. The fish in the two bubblenest pics looks like a male though. Females are normally not in on the bubblenesting. They are also normally much paler.

If you do have a pair I'd watch out. Mine bred when I wasn't paying attention, and did a number on their tankmates. of course I expect kribs with babies won't be pushovers.

Nice pics Mia.. I had Paradise fish way back. They are very colorful!! And, aggressive.. Interesting specimens they are.. :)

O-man 21, I am not too familiar with Paradise Fish morphology, but, from what I can tell you, it is possible for this to be a pair of females. My logic: while I can't remember which Betta book (Maurus, Wolfsheimer, the Hargroves, or Ostrow), I do remember that one of the authors had two bettas which paired up to make a bubblenest. The catch...the bettas were both from a strain where the females had fins to rival the males, and both of the bettas were, in fact, female. While it is a rarity, university studies seem to find a growing number of female-female pairings among the bubblenest-building Labyrinth fish. Okay, it was a round-about answer, but hopefully it at least gave you a little more piece of mind if nothing else.
