I'm in the process of starting a 10g (community) and a 5g (betta & few small guys) planted tank. So far I have a sword in the 10g, and a small sword in the 5g (wish might be wishful thinking that it wont outgrow the tank; can I trim it to keep the size down? It's an amazon sword I'm pretty sure) And I have some random hornwort and about 3 java ferns. I have a peice of driftwood so I really would like to get some javamoss, and I just wanted some other plants to hopefully create a carpet in my 5g and also maybe even in my 10g. Basically my goal is to convert both of them into planted tanks.

My major question:

I came across two websites offering packages. I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions.

-http://store.yahoo.com/aquaticplantdepot/10gallonkit.html That one seemed like it had a good package to offer, but I'm not sure if there were any background plants. So i might also order a couple of water sprites or something else that could give my tetras some hiding places. It also comes w/ java moss which is also a plus.

This one seems as if it is more custom to fit my "needs", only problem is I'm doing it for two tanks and don't want two orders. There are also several things which I really want, but maybe they would include if I specified that I have driftwood I want to grow stuff on.

Cliff's Notes:

I'm looking for a good assortment of plants to put in my 5g and 10g tank.

Cabomba, if you keep its growth in check. (Trim it every once and a while.)

I have Hygrophila in mine. I have to trim it a lot like themadblimper said with Cabomba, but it looks pretty good.

The picture in my tank specs is pretty old; the Hygro has filled in a lot since then. You can see in the picture that even Cryptocoryne is too tall for a 5 gal. The java fern looks okay in the picture, but it has also gotten too big since then.

I'd try some Baby Tears, or Dwarf Hairgrass. Maybe add some small rocks to it as well. Just a suggestion. It all depends on your lighting.

Also, these plants won't get too big for your tanks.
