You shouldn't need to add any supliments, your saltwater mix has the right amounts of all the major and minor elements in natural seawater. Until you have them being used up, theres no need to add any, not only that regular water changes add what you would need unless the tank is heavily loaded.

In a 29 gallon? probably not unless you have more than a few LPS. Snails and Hermits don't rely need anything. Just monitor your calcium, if you need it then worry about it, not "worry about it and never need it" :)

You using a coral type substrate? Doing water changes? probably wont have to worry about it, not until yoyu have some fast growing corals, most LPS grow slow. How much live rock do you have? The only other thing would be if you had a mass of coraline algae that eats CA, but again, you are way too early to think about any of suplements.

I dont know exactly.......

but i have about 15 - 20 pounds of live rock. i want coraline algae right? what about iodine. and how do i get coraline algae to grow?

I dont have a calcium test.

do they sell them separatly? My kit tests ammonia nitrite nitrate and ph, thats it.

Yes they sell them seperatly .. how do you think they are going to make money?? sell em together!?

Yes coraline algae is good, but you are really really putting the cart before the horse. Theres nothing in your system that can deplete your CA at this juncture from what I understand. Be patient my friend and buy a few books on this, something dated 1998 or newer would be best. Like the Consciencious Aqwuariast, or one that is older but still rocks, Baensch Marine Atlas vol. 1 or the newest I know out there, Delbeeks and Sprungs Reef Aquarium vol. 3. All are great reading and could get you a bit more knowledgable.

It is best if you grab and Alk and CA test kit, soon you will see you don't need anything right away. Or you should be able to just take a sample of your water to your LFS and have them test it for you.

i have books

but the are about fish only. I have read 6 aquarium books and 6 magazines in 2 months. I want some good reef books and a good mag subscription, any other suggestions. and i am from the south and they say we are a$$ backwards so the cart would be before the horse right. :) :joke: i am a smart alleck sometimes so please dont take offense i really appreciate the help have been frustrated with the tank latly.

If you purchase a few cases of COLD beer (emphasis COLD), and prowl around your LFS you might entice someone to come over and give you firshand help. Don't take this the wrong way please, but it sounds like you need some fundimentals, and that is a good place to start, along with books by Moe, Sprung, Calfo etc. (reading everything you can here really helps here). :shark:
