as my other post says Im going to be taking care of BBA w/ the use of copper I know a few plants are okay w/ copper and others are not, I have read that java fern is okay now I just need to know about the lettuce and hyacinth. If not, how long should I be able to soak them in bleach also how l ong can drift wood be soaked in bleach and than do you just soak it in water for a long time afterwards to get it out?

Cu (Copper) interferes with the production of Chlorophyll in any effective medicative dose and that is why it is so effective in killing algae & cyanobacteria. No plant is really going to tolerate higher doses of copper though trace amounts are neccessary. In fish it causes problems regarding to the heme group in hemoglobin which can cause the fish to become anemic in any longer term exposure. Regarding bleach, any hardy plant should be able to tolerate a 15 second dip which will take care of most snails & pathogens though I still reccomend a week or two quarantine in a vase before introducing it to your plant.
