i was looking for a good lighting system.
and i noticed that they are pretty expensive.
i was at lowe's and noticed that they sale flourescent thingy mabobbers fixtures.they have the exact size i need and they are 20 bucks without bulbs.each one holds 2 bulbs so i will probably buy 2 so i will have 4 48'' bulbs.they guy at thr lfs says he use the same thing with VHO bulbs. so i am going to try this.
will this be to hot to just lay on some plexi glass on top the tank?

VHO bulbs wont get that hot,

But running VHO Bulbs on a 40watt florcent balast will rung the VHO bulbs, but will only run them at 40 watts.. So you would be wasting your money running a 110Watt Bulb on a 40Watt balast.

i bought the light fixture at lowes the other day.i got the bulbs.
it it 5 times brighter but i wasnt paying attention to the watts.
dur.
they sell better ballasts so i am going in the morning to get a better one.they range from 20$ to 180$.and you say i need 110?
i only want to add a shrimp or 2.i have a yellow tang and a sebae. they are doing good after bout 4 days.very active.the yellow tang i am attatched already. he has a big personality.
i ordered a cherub angel(centropyge argi) but i wont get him till next tuesday due to work.i kwow i should have waited between adding fish but i acclimated them well floating them and slowly adding water in 15 minute intervals.i will add my pics tonight after i fing my digi cam.
