I just bought a 210g with a wet/dry trickle filter. The drain lines from the corner over flow to the filter have air in them. How do i purge the lines?
Any help would be great.

Do you mean how do you start them siphoning, or is the siphon running and the bubbles build up and stop it?

This is my first trickle filter. I don't know much about them. I filled the tank and the filter, then I turned on the return pump. What now?

... then water should be sucked out of the sump and returned to the tank. In exchange, water should go down the over flow to the filter.

In the sump, there should be a high enough water level so the pump won't be
sucking on air.

Yep. If there is an internal overflow, you'll need to start the siphons from the in-tank box to the out-of-tank box. If the overflows are built into the tank on the inside, you don't need to do anything--as the tank level rises, the water reach the top of the intake and flow to the sump.

Is it normal to have air in the drain lines? And alot of water noise?

Air will accumulate in the lines if they are not vertical. The more bends and angles in the system, the more likely it is that this will cause a problem. If the return lines are fairly straight up and down, eventually the air will work it's way out.

Noise is pretty common--falling water is not quiet. There are some modifications you can make to the stand pipe to reduce the noise though--google should turn it up, or searching here in the Saltwater forums on 'noisy overflow'.

Overflows can get pretty noisy. Things that need to be considered is the tubing being used as well. Most come with that black flexible ribbed tunbing and if you have that it needs to go. Switch to the clear vynal tubing you can get a Lowes/Home Depot. Also don't totally submerge the end of the overflow tube into the water in the sump. This actually makes more noise. Just above the water level should do.

The best overall mod, make a Durso Standpipe in the over flow. Works wonderfully, quiet, and makes your tank hold more water. Do some google search on durso standpipes and you'll find what you need to know, and search around on the Saltwater boards on the net as this is where many sump mods can be found.

My overflow is noisy at best. I built it with rigid PVC 2" pipes, and the water noise is there all day long. Previously, I tried flexible hoses, and the sound was lower.

My sump is outside the house, and that's another sound source, but I don't hear it from the inside.

The Durso stand pipe looks great, but it won't fit my overflow design. What I will do is to wrap all the pipe on a thick layer of foam. This will (hopeful) reduce the noise.
