i think ghost shrimp are cool and most LFS have them but they are so small you probably did not see them.

Try online, or a local fish club.

My local Petco carries bamboo shrimp so if they odn't have any you might be able to order some. I think cherry shrimp look the coolest but I think you would probably have to purchase online for htem.

My LFS (actual fish store, not a pet superstore) had a whole tank of ghost shrimp as live food - I think 10 for $1.39 or something. I took those home and they're doing great! A couple died, but that's more than to be expected. Have you asked the staff or did you just look yourself? Asking may be the key.
A couple of the females are quite large and have had eggs a couple times. They have light striping and clear/greenish hue to them. Anyway, they're pretty cool and you can basically drop them in and forget about them. I add sinking wafers every once in a while, but now my Black Mollies have caught on to those and devour them - that's a different problem for a different thread.
However, I guarantee if they had "cooler" shrimp I would have gotten those instead, but there's nothing wrong with Ghosts, so if you see 'em, grab 'em. I suppose you could order the cooler ones online, I've just never tried that route.

Whoa, looks like Dave got banned somehow, so not sure if he'll see this, but...

thanks for the info.....I have asked about them, and they just look at me like I have no idea what Im talkin about. But to be honest I'd never really heard of them til I started hanging out around here.
I actually did see some shrimp on ebay but the shipping is just outrageously high... I cant see paying $40 to have them shipped to me.
thanks,
dave

Ebay, aquabid, local pet stores, Petshrimp.com.... all excellent choices. Petshrimp.com actually sells their shrimp on aquabid as well. What do u want the shrimp for? Cherry shrimp are tiny but the females are bright red and they will beed. But you cannot keep them with fish. Ghosty shrimp are difficult to see and don't live long, and again, become food for many fish. Amano shrimp work best for me in a fish + shrimp situation. I've had a colony of amanos for years now in with all my fish. They grow to about 2" long and eat algae.
