I haven't been able to figure this out... what's so taboo about writing out the word/abbreviation?

They say if you write pleco, the specific fish you are referring to will die.

Its like saying macbeth in europe. You are not allowed to say macbeth during any part of the play, during production or during the actual play, because it will bring about bad luck. ;)
I dont actually know either, anyone care to explain?

Also, don't expect someone to wish you "good luck" b4 entering a play. Best wished are told by telling you "break a leg".

I tried that once, it didn't work.

Well,I write pleco all the time,and mine has been with me for over a year,and is quite the poop machine.....

That must be the alternative; you get extra poop from the Plec if it doesn't die on you.

Every pleco I've owned has died so far... EVERY SINGLE ONE! Now I'm going to have to try Pl*co.

I always kinda figured it was because the person writing pl*co was in another country and that keybaord didn't have an "e" :huh:
