Refractometer

I purchased a refractometer, this one:

and, unfortunately, it did not come with instuctions

. Foster & Smith have instructions on line on how to use it, but not how to calibrate it.

Does anyone know how to calibrate this beastie? All I know is that I need to use distilled water, that's it

To calibrate it place three drops of distilled water on the lens, close cover, be sure that the water covers the lens evenly (no air bubbles) and wait 30 sec (the wait is so the refractometer can compensate for temp, hold the unit to the light, look thru the eyepiece, there will be a divided line (mines blue/white) set to O, this can be done via the set screw on top the unit.
