i have a 55 gallon tank and just ablout two days ago this redish brown algea has started to grow on the rocks i was just wondering if it is bad or good because i have a bala shark that has been eating it

It is Brown algae(diatoms)...it's harmless and normal in new tanks. Otocinclus cats are very adept at eating the stuff.

It goes away after a few months once the tank matures and the nutrients balance out.

My common pleco loves the stuff too.

My tank has been set up for over a year now,and I haven't completely gotten rid of it.
