i have a 75 gallon with 3 red bellied piranha's. I have to bring it to parents house, 45 min away, during the summer and then back to school. i was wondering if u had any ideas about how to bring the tank back and forth. should i leave the gravel and sand and stuff in it, or should i empty it all out. i don't wanna hurt them. i also don't wanna start a whole new cycle for them. i am thinking about planting it and was also wondering how i should move the plants too

thanks in advance,
Johnny

I would say take all the water out. in 2-3(depending on how much gravel you have) 5 gallon buckets put the substrate in and water, so that the bacteria won't die as fast. take as much water as you can, otherwise you will probably have to cycle again.
plants should survive the trip easily. Only a few kinds of plants would be to fragile for the move, and even they would heal eventually.
once you've got the tank all set up and running there, maybe leave the lights off for the first few hours, moving fish can get them really stressed.
definately get everything you can out of the tank, you don't want to risk cracking it...
