Also a air pump and foam filter to use in a spare 5g for my American Fry.

I don't know, but I haven't been able to find it in the tank since last night! I've spent 30 min looking for it. I've looked around the tank too. It wasn't small enough to be eaten, and I've checked the hidding spots. It just disappeared!

Check the floor! Seriously, if you have some hiding places, your fish will be there until acclimation occurs.

I did check the floor. He was out and about for ~1hr when I put him in and I can't think of anywhere else that he could be hiding

I'm sorry to hear that. He looked like a cool fish. If it makes you feel better, I am going to re-plan the aquascaping in my proposed Rift Lake tank, because I had never thought about something like that being a factor. I thank you for sharing that with us because it is helpful to know facts like this for tank plans, but again am sorry that knowledge came under such sad circumstances.
