I'm pretty sure they will breed. I mean they don't call them the rabbits of the fish world for nothing.

Okay, out of curiosity, why do you want to breed them? If you want to do that so that you can have some babies for the future, you need a separate tank (once the cons have paired off). If you just want to see them defend their fry, while I cannot condone leaving them in with a whole bunch of fish just to see that experience, I guess you would want to leave them in the community tank. By the way, prepare for the Oscar to get his butt kicked...cons actually kick Piranhas out of tanks when they are defending a brood ("The Guide to Owning Central American Cichlids," **** Stratton).

cons OWN oscars. I saw a tank at petsmart that had a single con w/5 bigger oscars. where was the con? swimming about everywhere. where were the oscars? COWERING IN FEAR at the top left corner....

Yeah, Oscars are wusses (but I still love 'em). Cons aren't (but I still love 'em). One other thing--you have TSNs and Oscars in the same tank? In Neal Pronek's "Oscars," he says that full-grown TSNs can eat even a full-grown Oscar...you're gonna want a different tank for the Oscar!

I have a pair of cons. They used to be in with two oscars. After laying eggs the cons beat the oscars all over the tank. I removed the oscars a day or two later but they were nicked up alot.
