As no one is replying to my post about my dying molly, I am going to have to take it out of the tank and humanly euthanise it. Any ideas of how ot do it?

the guy that uthanized his pacu/s put them in the floor and droped a cinder block on their heads

Im sorry you have to do this........ :(

yeah, thats your best option, sadly. I'm sorry.....it's never easy to put a pet to sleep.

For a molly, id do the old 1 cup tank water, one shot of vodka and a few drops of clove oil...Do this in a disposable cup... It should be dead (or atleast comatose) before it hits the freezer...You can always freeze to make sure...Toss the whole works in the garbage...Big fish are best done with a block wall and a good throwing arm...Or a cinderblock as mentioned...Not pleasant but a necessary evil.

Sorry about your fish. THis link is a tread that talks about euthanising fish, I wouldn't frezze the fish, it can take awhile. I looked at your other post, sorry I'm not sure what your fish has, but if it has swimming problems it could be an innternal infection of some kind. I would suggest searching the site (if you haven't already). You might find a similar case.

Ew...I don't have the heart or stomache to do that...

Has any one else got quick, painless, calm, unmessy ways?

read my post in your other thread. I have a feeling this has to do with poor water quality (not neccesarily ammonia...) which caused an internal infection.

A lot of people use clove oil ,I never have though.

Make a 1:5 (20%) solution of Vodka (or any other similar strong grain neutral alcohol) and water. Then place the fish into the container and it will simply `go to sleep'. You can cover the glass with a dark towel or similar also. Unless you can get access to a fish anesthetic, this seems like the easiest way to go.
fish euthanasia c/o The Krib
Note: this works well for tiny fish, but not so well with bettas and larger fish.

If worse comes to worse, drop the fish into icewater and it will go to sleep within a few seconds. Then stick the fish in the freezer to make it permanent (it won't feel pain since the temperature shock would have caused it to lose conscienceness and probably stopped the heart also)
