my new tank is finally up and ready to go .. i am back to the question to tangs. im still very much a newbie .. so i wanna learn more about tangs... my girlfriend loves the regal blue tang .. and we are stuck between the choices of a yellow tang and the regal blue ... i have a 60+ gallon tank and im planning to get the tang at the juvenile stage like around 2 to 3 inches ... which one do you guys think i should get ? and please do share any experiences and advice. thanks !

both tangs are easy to keep. but if u decide on the blue regal, make sure u ask your LFS the origin of the fish . skip blue regals from indonesia.
prepare to pay higher price for blue regals from Fiji or Hawaii.
if u live in singapore, then visit the marine FS in ballestier road.

for my point of view...Colour, lots of it, matter most for newbies, well u might get bored with plain yellow after a while if u choose the yellow tang.

hmmm do you have the address of the marine FS ? also i just wanna ask does any one know if my dragon wrasse will eat cleaner shrimp ? i want some cleaner shrimp for my cleanup crew but im afraid they might get eaten.. i already have a boxer shrimp in there and my wrasse doesnt bother it ..

Sorry, but the tank is to small for a yellow tang, the problem is that tangs are from environments where instead of incorperating 3-5 foot or so as their habitat, they live in schools where the tangs take up many feet 20+, because of this, i really think your tanks is too small, at early stages the tank maybe ok, but as the fish matures and grows, it will be stressed as there wont be enough swimming space. Otherthings you have to consider is, other inhabitants in the tank will get bullied, other fish like dwarf angels and yellow fish (fish with same colour or similar body shape), will get harassed if the tang is established in the tank, other than that, if you do decide to keep it, try to give it lots of swimming space, and for the regal, im sorry but they are just too big.

hmm maybe i 'll scrap the idea.. but anyways.. i am not doing up a reef tank.. will be a FOWLR. i have quite a bit of swimming space and im not gonna add anymore rock. as for yellow fish .. i only have a watchman goby that stays in his hole all the time .. i guess i might start looking for other fish. any suggestions ?
