I have a group of six F1 in a 180 gallon tank at around 8". Two of them have paired off. The challenge is to be able to net the pair. As soon as the net hits the water they scatter...then it's anyone's guess. Take note of how dark the breeding coloration is.
Interesting note...I have been trying various things to get them to breed... large water changes, raise and lower pH...temperature variations (filling the tank after a big water change with cooler water to simulate heavy rainfall)...changing the various potential breeding pots. For the longest time I had a dozen Metynsis in with them as dithers.
My last attempt seemed to work. I added a fairly small pot and removed all of the Metynsis...did two big water changes...and bang (literally
) Now I have to figure out who's who.
