hi, Have to order lights for my 75 gallon.

would coralife pro with 2x150 watt halides and pc actinics be too bright in my living room?

would coralife 260 watt pc be better?

I plan to add some corals later and am worried I will regret not getting better light. some say the shimmer is real nice with halide. also,I have a glass versa top, does halide work thru glass or would reflection be a problem? what about heat? I keep rome around 68 fahrenheit and have a c in summer.

Whether the halides will be too bright depends on the size of your living room, the tank's placement therein and your own light sensitivity. If you have a fairly small living room and have the tank right next to a smallish TV, the extra glare could be distracting, for example.

Halides are definitely superior to PC if you want corals. If you're worried about the glare, consider T5-HO as an alternative to MH.

150W halides shouldn't give you a lot of heat issues especially if you have AC. You can always clip on a small fan in the summer to blow across the water surface to provide additional cooling.

Coralife recommends that you have glass shielding between the HQI halides and the waters as a safety issue.

I'll drink to the T-5's Crown Royal! :soda:

I've got 2 150w MH on my setup, and they look great, the shimmer really is worth the money, and I know I can keep pretty much anything with them. It does however light up the room quite a bit, but during the day that isn't really a problem, and to be honest at night it's just like having a lamp on in the room, but bare in mind that these lights go off about 6pm and the Actinics come on, so I really don't notice it that much. My room is 16" x 12" if that helps.
