This is the perfect recipe for some sort of bacterial infection. Sudden Temperature changes are very stressful for the fish. Just let the tank temperature slowly come down, you are 2 degrees from your normal tank tamperature anyways.

My tank temperature depends on what kind of fish I have in it. Rainbows, 75-77*, Blue Eye rainbows 78*, Goldfish 70*, "mixed bag" tank 78*

No one of them has a heater.

I wish that was the case with me....but I need tank heaters way up north here in Michigan.

That depends on the tank. My one goldfish runs 68-72 winter, ~76-78 summer. My tropical tanks range from 76-82, depending on the tank.
