Con breeding behavior

Sounds like normal behaviour. Initially when you introduce the new convict I would expect them to be locking jaws. Once they get used to each other that probably won't happen much, but the male will probably chase/follow the female around and they'll be a lot of gill flaring.

I think it probably is courting behaviour, but could be just aggression. Some more obvious courting behaviour would be digging nest sites, following each other around the tank and the male "dancing/shaking" to impress the female.

Once they break out off the locks he starts snaping and twiching his whole body.He used to be with another convict but he was accindently(sp?)a male so i took him back thats when i got the female.I never noticed jaw locking or gill flairin before I got the female.Only thing i saw was bad damage done to the male I kept.
I read that the female only has a pink/orange stomach when in breeding mode and thats what she has now.Thats what made me think it might be courting behavior. The female is the one that chases the male so far from my observations. But I hope it is courting behavior, this is my first time with cichlids.
