Hi my mollies have been getting frisky lately and, if they do have fry, what shall I do with them? My tank does not have enough room for more fish, and besides, adult mollies eat thier young, don't they? I know that when one of the females get's pregnant I will have to get one of those seperation net things, but I have no idea where I will put the babies when they are too big for the net! I have a 9 gallon tank which currently houses my two gerbils, which, I suppose, could go into their old tank. But if I were to put the babies in that tank I would have to get another filter and another heater for it! They are pretty expensive. I have thought about selling them to my local aquatics store, but they probaly wouln't want them as they are a cross between balloon mollies and regular mollies- very unhealthy genetic wise! Do aquatic stores even take baby fish? Help! What should I do?

its possible to keep them, rear the fry for profit, or use them as food, some people do feed carnivarous fish young fry.

Mollies wont eat most of the babies, especially if you have floating plants. The danger is that the babies might get sucked into the filter. You want to put a sponge in the filter intake to stop the babies from getting sucked up. You wont make any profit off of molly babies but you can give them away to local pet stores easily. Balloon mollies are just a mutation of the same species of molly as the regular molly.

I have the same prob ,my mollie gave birth to 60 + fry
