I have a bristleworm in my tank, I have,nt seen him in a while and the last time I saw him he was about 4" long I was wondering if he will harm my anemonies or my fish I,ve seen traps I can get to get rid of him but if he,s not harming anything whats the harm in keeping him THANX

In my Invert book they list two kinds of bristle worms, one kind will eat corals and the other will be fine. The one that eats coral, according to my book is pale and looks basicaly the same as a "white" skin tone. THe other one thats supposed to be ok and actually beneficial is a fairly bright red color. I would assume there ahs to be more colors of them tho. The reason i dont like them is because of the possibility of them stinging you if you accidentally touch them.

I had one over a foot long in my 29gallon, which turned into a preadtor rather than a clean up helper. Check out www.oregonreef.com and see his "worm incident" page. You can leave it in there, I think every tank will have at least a dozen small ones, just worry about it if it gets larger and it needs to find more food. Their sting could harm an anemones base though, it would hurt you aswell.
