I posted a help message befor about ICK running rapent in my tank amoung my mollies, guppies, and other small livebeares and I got some good advice, but i forgot some thing. Is the salt and warmer temps going to hurt my king tiger pleco? He seems to be doing allright right now but i will be adding more salt tomarrow, so far he dosnt appear to have the ick, should he be ok or should i move him to the bath tub? LOL.

Salt and heat is by far the best treatment, scaleless fish and invertibrates don't tolorate meds well.

I recently overdosed on a tank with salt recently. Not a single fish died (including a shark) from the salt overdose (Imagine having almost 11 teaspoons per gallon of salt in your tank for 36 hours). This same overdose with medications would have been fatal. I only happened to spot the overdose because my ammonia eaters shut down and these bacteria are almost indestructable (unlike our nitrite eaters). Once the overdose situation was fixed, ammonia tested 0 within 3 days.

success!!!!

I know that Im not done yet but I wanted to thank everyone that gave me such great advice!! The Ick is starting to go away! and my guppies or what is left of them are still kicking. The ick isnt all gone yet but the fish only have a spot or two now compared to the millions of little spots they did have. I will keep up with the water changes and salt for the next week or two just to be sure, and my pleco is doing fine... thanks to you all. I was using meds as well as salt and temps, but i stopped the meds and the ick seems to be going away faster and my pleco seems much happier. Thanks again, We are on the road to recovery!!!!
