i was wondering wat are the signs of old age in CRS. i have 7 in my tank and one is simplying dying at the moment. my water parameters are good: pH 7.2, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 20 ppm, temp. 76. tank mates are apple snails and fancy guppies. so nothing i can think of can kill it... except old age since they live approximately 1.5 years. i only had it for about 3 months though, dont know how long it was at the lfs. all the remaining 6 shrimp look perfectly fine, i even have one thats about to lay eggs... i am just baffled

I don't have an answer but I LOVE cherry shrimp! Do they breed easily? I really want to have some someday.

Can you describe why you think it's dying. Lethargic, loss of color, etc.

i saw the shrimp sink down to the bottom of the tank, and it just became lethargic. as for the color, it remained a brilliant red color. i tried to isolate it, but it just slowly died. other than that, it looked pretty healthy

It's hard to diagnose a cause of death. If the other shrimp are healthy I'd put it down to natural causes, but that's a pure guess with nothing else to do on.
