Hey guys. Im planning on moving my 10" Blackbelt to a larger tank in the house soon. My question is how the heck am I going to float this guy to get him acclamated (SP?) because he wont fit in a zip lock baggie. Any tips? Thanks

Heres a suggestion. taking a guess that both tanks are same temp right! Put the fish in an igloo, acclimate by using a drip system directly from the tank. After about 30min. add the fish to the tank. I use this method on my 12" severum when rearanging my 100gal. tank.

The drip method is definately the way to go here. You can use a cooler or a barrel to hold the fish (I prefer a barrel due to the high sides).

I moved a pair of 12"+ goldfish ~2 hours away in 55g barrels and drip acclimated them. This will be very easy if your fish isn't even leaving your house.

No lie...I generally make sure the temps are close, then just scoop it out using a plastic garbage bag and then just put him in the other tank. I wouldn't worry too much about dripping water or even being sure the temps are exact. It's just not that critical for most fish.

Without even checking most of the tanks in your home will have the same pH and GH. I have often just taken fish from one tank to another just by netting and releasing. In thirty years I have never had an issue. If you want to be safer...just check the pH to make sure you are close.

This aoplies to tanks in your home. Moving a fish from point "A" to point "Z" outside the home requires more care.
