Why did my starfish die?

I had a Red Bali Star for about six months and it seemed to be happy, always moving around and looking beautiful. I was sad to find it curled in a corner, and since it hasn't moved for several days now, I'm sure it's a goner. Just before it lost its animation, we rearranged the live rock a bit and stirred up the tank for a couple hours. It cleared right away, but I wonder if they don't respond well to water that isn't clear. Poor thing. Anyone?

Need to know water the water conditions like ammonia, ph, nitratem nitritem and stuff like that. Also did you check to make sure it was in fact dead?

My guess would be it slowly starved to death, like many starfish in captive systems.
