Dang! My new rams have ick. I know they will tolerate higher temps but can someone tell me if they will tolerate the salt for heat/salt ick treatment?
Thanks!

yep, Most cichlids will tolerate salt quite well. And I have yet to find a freshwater fish that won't do well enough for the salt/ heat method of ich treatment.

Many barbs and sharks due get stressed with a salt treatment but won't die (I've overdosed on salt with both these fish without a problem) unless chased with a net. Same rule will probably apply to any other sensitive fish.

I think only corys will get stressed by salt, not sure though.

My cories have never been stressed with salt. And they have successfully bred. As Dave mentions, short term (ie three weeks or less) salt treatments do not have an adverse affect on fish when the dose is kept low.

Thanks everyone. It looks like the one who had the fewest whitespots is even improving, and the one that was most affected isn't getting worse. They are both a little stressed (but that could be from the ick itself) but seem to be active and eating. Funny, the two neons I bought at the same time have not shown any ick. So glad I quarrentined them!
