they sure look good but gph rate looks high.

are they considered wavemakers and are wavemakers a big plus?

Tunze Streams are awesome little pumps.

Quiet, reliable, low energy usage and almost no heat soak. The big numbers you see are pumped out in a much wider area that your standard powerhead. As a result, you get much more "natural" flow rather than a concentrated jet.

The ones to get are the 6100 models and up. These have adjustable electronic clutches that allow you to vary flow down as low as 10%. But what really takes the cake is the Multicontroller system that allows you to hook-up and program multiple streams in unison.

Streams also have neat little things like a photocell which automatically turns down the pumps a night.

Too bad two 6100s and a Multicontroller costs nearly $1000 (that's Canadian, but still . . .).

Also consider Seio 800s which don't move quite as much water (but enough for most people's tanks) and are a lot cheaper. Downs are more dubious realiability, bigger/uglier, use more energy, and no programmability (although the manufacturer, Tamm, looks to introduce something soon).
