Since Green Terror toppics are coming up I thought I would post a few shots of mine. He is now 7 inches and just under a years old. As you may guess by the speed he is growing, he is eating realy well.
These picts were taken back in November I have just been to lazy to download them since them his bump seems to have grown.
Hope you like them. I changed my avator from my TX Cichlid since this in now my dominant fish

do you have a black light in the tank?

the coloration looks surreal.

Re

No its the same tank I had with my TX cichlid avator I just took off.
I wasnt GT shopping. I didn't even want one. I was going to stick with TX cichlids in my 90. THought it would be cool to get a pair. Well I saw this Juv and I thought when you see if fish with this much color you will kick your self if you dont buy it. He grew and kept the color.
Oh. the purple on his bottom half isnt his color it's reflective light from the purple gravel. Also the bottom pict looks a bit bluer then he is. He looks more like the top pict.
I have had people over who dont know about fish ask me if its a sualt water tanks.
Well I love my TG so he is my new avator.

I guess he could be a year old. I got him as a Juv last Feb or Masrch. I'm thinking he was an Inch or so back then.
I don't understand why he has grown so fast either. He seems to be growning like an oscar.

VERY NICE!!!! So he just started developing his hump at about 7"?? That gives me hope that my big one might still be male, but due to the coloration and finnage, I doubt it. Did he always have the longer flowing fins or do those start to grow with maturity? Because my little really colorful one, which I think is a male, does not have fins like that. I did the same exact thing with buying my little guy. I kind of needed a fish to put in the 55 and I couldn't not buy one after seeing the batch's colors. Was it the same price as it would be normally? I talked to the old man (from LFS in other thread) where I got him from and he said from what he saw from the stock list it didn't seem to be any special kind of terror, but really had no explanation for the $10 + difference btw what they normally would be. Also If you look at my little guy, you'll see in the middle of him and at other smaller areas, he has like a solid line/chunk,etc of brightly colored scales. http://beezer720.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=album02&id=DSC00209_JPG

One of the main characteristics of a green terror is that each individual scale is colored with a dark spot in the middle of each, right, much like yours and my big one. MY little is not like that. Is this just how brightly colored juv. look until they get larger?? I dont think my big one was too colorful when young, although I don't really know because I was away at school until it was about 3-3.5". Also, I think I read an article where one dif btw the Peruvian and Ecuadorian was that where one, ours, had a dark spot in the middle, and the other had a bright spot in the middle and a dark ring around the outside, and if I remember correctly it mad the colors look much nicer and more prominent. I'm gonna try to find that article.

Ok the one in your bottom link looks like the shape and fin pattern of mine when he was still a juv.
I would guess that to be your male. Mine had always had the fin shape he has now. I think the one in the top is a female and if her colors are like my males can you amigine if we were to breed them. Can you get any more of those like maybe a female? What State are you in?
He has a bump on my avator and the are shots from the same day. I thought he always had a bump but lately it has grown a lot.

Also, I just thought I'd add if you haven't figured it out, if you are viewing the pictures and you click on them, it will completely blow them up so you can get a really good look.
Cyclon, both of those were pics of my little ?male?. Here's a clearer one

You can see how little he still is in relation to the airstone(like 6" I think). I'm hoping and thinking it's a male. There were about 6 in the tank he was in and about 4 in another tank, all btw 1.5-3". All of them were brilliantly colored, but I selected the one with by far the biggest band of orange on its tail fin and brightest colors, plus he seemed to have quite a personality coming to the tanks front and constantly chasing all other fish, haha. I would have settled for any of the fish. Breeding your fish with any of these would prolly be a gold mine if they produce similar colors and one can sell 2" juv for $15+. I am in the NE suburbs of Detroit. I don't know where Lake ITH is, but I'm about 4.5 h drive from Chicago. This place usually has pretty good stock, but like I've said before, I've never seen GTs with this color at this size at any LFS, and I think we have some pretty good ones around here, and I've looked for at least a year. There's gotta be at least quite a few of the little GTs left, and they were like $17, so if you were willing to take a drive here and bought a couple, I'm sure you'd end up with at least one gorgeous female.
As for the GT that I believe is a female here are some more pics of her.

Here's one to kinda get an idea of her size

I think she's got some pretty nice colors for a female (nothing compared to yours), because arent the males the lookers in this species. Plus I have really bad lighting on my tank. I've only got 60 W total.
That's another problem/question I have. I have two 36" strips each with 2 18" bulbs in them. Technically for my tank size with plants I should have at least 100 W right? Can I get 18" 25W to bump it up to 100W total? All I have been able to find is 15 W at that size and I dont want to drop a bunch of money in new light fixtures.

Not sure about what kind of a bulb you can get. I get a lot of stuff here http://www.thatpetplace.com/
they have great prices that beat my LFS.
Expencive filter set ups seem to be about half here.
They have a huge selection of bulbs as well.
Yeah, I think you sexed your fish right.
I was hoping you lived closer. I will see what my fish guy can find.
