I bought a new tank and it is a TruVu system with the filtration in the back. It has those black plastic flourescent light holders on top covering the openings.

I have a Rose Bubble Tip Anemone that I will be transferring over to the new tank but I am very concerned about the lighting. Right now I have it under a Corallife 2x96 watt pc lighting and it is doing great.

Is there any way to change out the ballasts in those housings so that you can put PC lighting or something better in them.

My thought before where that I would have both the lousy flourescents and put my other lighting on top alos, but there is no way I can fit all that on top.

Anyone have any ideas about how to get enough light into the tank for the BTA??

I really cannot afford a MH setup.

I'm familiar with the lighting strip on TruViews, but am attempting visualize what you want to do.... swap the bulbs out into the TruView fixture? I'm not sure. Best bet would be to DIY a hood and cram all the lights in there, and get good reflectors for the NO lights. Plus, hows 'bout some info like tank size how many bulbs etc.

Well, What I want to do is replace the low wattage bulbs with something higher watts, but not sure if I need to replace the whole innards(sorry, not to technical when it comes to this stuff).

I guess probably my best bet would be to build a canopy and just start over, but I was hoping that I could just pull out the ballasts and replace with new ones, but not sure i could do that.

O.K. now I have a clearer picture... I think... are the ballasts in the actual hood or are they remote? if their remote no problem. If they are internal then the fog has lifted and I understand. If you cram PC's into a small light fixture designed for NO light you run the risk of warping the pkastic, or creating worse problems. If it is the larger fixture designed with remote ballasts as long as you use good reflectors with spacers, you should be O.K. If you get a chance post pictures of your lights and we can get a better idea of how you can attack it.
