how long..

how long do Rams usually take to spawn?, i bought a female after months of searching and my male jumped on her right away, and now she is big and gravid, she has been so for about 4 weeks now

i should also mention that my male recently passed away, almost a week ago, i plan on buying a new male on friday, will this effect anything?

i've never bred rams before so any good advice will be well appreciated

Rams are egg layers. From what little I know about breeding fish, egglayers lay eggs then they are fertalized. So without a male It wont happen. I would look into possible problems, such as constipation, that would cause it to be so plump. I was wrong once before in my life (but ONLY once ;) ) so someone feel free to correct me on this.
