I want to put a sump under my 75 gallon tank but the top[ clearance is only 16 inches.

would a hob or in sump protein skimmer still fit?

Are you saying that there is only 16 inches of vertical space in the stand? If so, you'll probably have a very difficult time fitting something in there. Even the ASM Mini is over 16.5 inches.

Who with an asm can answer me this - when you do have the sump underneath your tank how many vertical inches of water do you need to facilitate it?

I think ASM suggests about 9 inches.
