I haven't stocked any new fish since mid november and all of a sudden today i noticed one of my bolivian rams was hiding and looking really strange and swimming funny. I net him towards the front of the tank and i noticed little white spots that appear to look like ick. But they are slightly raised and kinda like cysts. Hes turned really dark and looks kinda skinny.

Now i'm thinking he either has ick or he hasn't been able to eat much cuz the other rams might be picking on him, i dont know.

How could there be ick in my tank though if it was there then the fish would have been infected weeks ago. not 2 months down the line. My tank temp is fairly high too 82F so it shouldn't have taken that long for ick to complete its life cycle. The other fish seem fine so far.

Ich Hides very well with otherwise healthy fish. Some folks have ich in their tank for years without visibly seeing an outbreak, and then something happens to stress the fish and all of a sudden they have ich. This is the basis of the myth that ich is always in your tank. cure the entire tank of it once very well and you won't see it again. For more information:
