Can you use incandescant lighting for plants?

Sure. Cheap to buy, expensive to run. Too hot to use in summer often.
Nowadays there are screw-in fluorescent bulbs, which go right into the old incandescent-type fixtures. They have a ballast right in the base. Expensive to buy, cheaper in the long run. They run cool and efficient. I have one on a desk lamp right here overhanging a 10-gallon tank full of Java Fern and Crypts.
Where can you buy these???
