Is their a test i can buy to see if my questionable skimmer is doing its job. I read somewhere that a phosphate test might be an indicator. Im almost certain though that there is nothing out there to test for organic matter (the stuff the skimmer pulls out.) Just thought i'd try to get everyones input on this subject.

How large is the tank, what type of skimmer is it, and how much is it pulling out daily? Is the skimmate watery and light coloured, or are you getting really nasty coffee-coloured gunk?
IMO if you're seeing lots of dark, thickish, stinky goo I wouldn't worry - it's doing its job. If you only get 1/4 cup of watery green tea a week, something's wrong.

Its a pro clear aquatics 75 gal rated wet dry with a built in skimmer - 75 gal tank - the skimmate is little to none i mean if the level in the collection cup goes up it does in millimeters a day but it is rather dark at the bottom of it - but the tiny cup wouldn't be filled in a months time. Like i get pretty wet when i see bubbles coming out of it.

Ive soaked the pump in vinegar, tried to clear out the impellers with pipe cleaners tried taking the pump apart, u name it.
