Hi!

Does anyone have a banded shark?I found one at lfs that is about 25cm long.
I have decided not to go with the 100g tank and rather get 175g and put in a sump filter and protein skimmer.Would this be big enough for him.Do they get very large.I read that they get about 60 cm-Is this true?

id say get a 210 and youll be fine
i dont have them, just have done research.

My book says min, aquarium size is 180 gal. If you have the money and are already getting a new tank you might want to get a bigger one tho.

I wouldn't get a tank less than his length (in width) so with that said it would be like 6-7' long by 4-5' wide.

i agree with wastememphis. when most people see a shark in their LFS they get all excited and usually buy them trying to keep the thing in a small tank not taking into consideration that these guys grow to usually around 3 feet. i read somewhere that a small shark usually demands at least 500 gallons of water and later into adult life the amount of water they need triples.
