I have a breeding tank system(12 tanks 1 wet/dry filter)with malawi cichlids can I put fish from lake victoria in one of the tanks is the water the same or harder I know ph is close please help :bowing: Thanks John

the Haplochromines of lake Victoria are far less aggressive than Mbuna and i think they'll get pretty beat up in a Mbuna tank. moreover, Mbuna are predominantly algae eaters while Victorian haps are omnivorous and will eat far more protein.

No no he's saying can he keep them in a tank on the same system.

I would say yes, there will undoubtedly be some differences in water chemsitry between the two lakes but it is generally the same. I dont think you'd have any trouble, as we have kept lake victorians under the same conditions as both lake malawi and tangynika fish.

You could so a google search to find out the exact chemistry of lake vic and malawi and compare the two, but the fish will be able to survive the differences.
