Okay, I have three Clown Loaches that are going to need to moved to a bigger tank before long. My parents are remodeling their home and my father wants to respark his aquarium hobby with something like a 55 gallon Discus tank (he had a Discus tank before and I think he misses it!). Anyway I was wondering if a 55 gallon was a good size for these loaches. I would also like to know if they would be compatiable with the Discus. The biggest one is about 3 in. right now and all three are growing fairly slowly, so I have some time before they need to be moved.

I have 5 clowns in a 180g community tank. 55g should be fine.

Clown loaches get along with just about any of the peacefull fish! They do enjoy munching snails though...so if ya have snails, loaches might not be a viable option.

Yeah the reason I bought them in the first place was because I had a tank full of pond snails. It was bad to the point where they would cover up most of the side and front of the tank! Once I put the loaches in the all but two or three of the snails where gone in th span of a day or two!
I also inhereted a Black Mystery Snail from a friend and put him in my tank thinking that he was too big for the loaches; well I was wrong and after a few days or so he was showing signs of damage and I was forced to give him away. :(

By the way Tetra, how do you like your Eclipse hood? I have one also, are you happy with the light output, and how are your plants doing, any problems?
