petsmart having a sale:..tank and hood (incandescent only) for $22.00......i know the correct way to go is with flourescent lighting.......(incandescent puts out much more heat)......but would this be ok for a hospital tank?

If it's an Incandescent hood, then you can go to Wal-Mart & get the "All-Glass" compact Fluorescents for about $5 each. these are 10 watts of 10000K. I have one in my 5 gal Exlipse Hex and it's great! And doesn't put out all the heat!

A good tip is to make sure whatever light you go with, it should be somewhat subdued. This will keep the stress down and make the fish more comfortable.
