Hi
I'm fairly new to having tropical fish and am looking for a bit of advice. For a bit of background, I currently have a fairly established 50litre tank with 3 angels, 1 clown loach, 1 red gourami, 6 cardinal tetras, 4 white cloud minnows and 2 algae eaters. This seems to be going great!
However I have just got a new tank (96litres) this is in the process of getting established (with lots of help and advice from my local pet store!). As this is a lot bigger than the last one, what I was hoping for was some ideas of what fish I could have in this tank - the one requirement is that one of my current angels will be moving to this tank.
Any ideas would be gratefully received!
Thanks
:)

Well, I would get 2-4 more clown loaches and move them in as well--they will get rather large, and prefer to have a social group.
Anything in specific you're wanting to do with this tank? Plants? Breeding?
Welcome to AC--where every question is answered with 3 more. :)

Hello and I see you've caught the Must Get Bigger Tank disease, soon to be aggravated by the Now I Need Another Tank infection.
Anyway, I'm sure others will tell you that you really need to move your single clown loach into the larger tank right away and get another one or two clown loaches. They are unhappy alone.
You also need to make sure your new tank is cycled properly before adding fish.
There's my two cents worth.

thanks! I was advised when I got the clown loach that they were happy on their own - but thank you for letting my know otherwise, I will get him some companions!
to OrionGirl - there are no set plans for the tank, I certainly don't think I'll be looking at breeding! there are plants in there at the moment, they do okay, but tend to get a bit scraggy if the fish munch on them! generally I will replace with new ones as they need.

Hmmm...Maybe take the time to check out some options for planting. Would be a new thing to try--a whole new set of things to fuss over (especially if you have a green thumb!)
If you have more than one angel, you have a 50-50 chance of getting a pair. If you have a pair, and keep water parameters within their range, they will likely breed. Just a warning--no need to worry about it much.
Would you want to shoot for a biotope (ie, mimic their native waters)? The clowns would be out of place, but you could stock with some cardinals, and maybe a few other Amazonian fish easily.

thanks for your comments OrionGirl, I will take the points on board. but think will leave the planting for a while, at least until I am confident with the fish!
shame about the clowns, but still have in the original tank. I will look more closely at developing the 'amazon' culture for new tank, I guess up to now I have really simply looked at compatability and what the fish look like, it will be interesting to try and mimic the angels' try environment.
thanks again
