Have a strange problem... I just moved into a new house. Today I set up my 29gal tank and filled it with water (unsoftened). The tank is bare, for now, no gravel, no filter. I put the heater in the tank and was going to let the water warm a bit before putting in the filter, etc... After a couple hours, the water turned very cloudy, a mikly white cloudy. The water was crystal clear when I put it in the tank. It's so bad that you can't see through the tank. The Ph is 7.8 but I don't know the Kh or Gh (just ordered a test kit). I do know that the water is VERY hard and is loaded with iron. Any ideas what could be causing this and how to clear it up???

Thanks

I beleive this is commonly known as "new tank" syndrome. This si very common when setting up a new tank. It is caused from the bacteria's and other micro-organism's in the water not having anywhere to go. It should clean itself up within a few day's on it's own. Good luck!!

Thanks...

Just read the 'beat a dead horse thread' (overlooked it earlier), that helped out...
