I want to own a number of pets, and after several rounds of tough negotiations with Bunny13, we have gotten the list to:

-2 huskies
-pomeranian
-great dane
-any cat, of her choosing
-rabbit
-mini pony
-mini cow (yes, they DO exist)
-alpaca (big furry llama-type thing)

How about you guys? What do you want, if you could have ANY pet?

Well, you know, a Shetland pony. The ones that are smaller than some dogs... lol. Yeah, the little like 38" cows or whatever. Yeah, they're expensive, but these are dream pets!!!!!!

Plus, we can finance it with the alpaca wool...

Dream pet huh? A fully tamed, non-Roy eating large cat of some kind. It's a dream after all, and I like cats and happen to dream BIG!

A cat - any kind of cat (my husband has - please don't laugh - a cat phobia)... dream cat would be a jaguar that didn't need a huge space to run around in!!

Other pets I'd like to have:
- foo foo carry around with you dog (coach dog carrier and collar/leash included :D )
- siberian husky
- dolphin
- another rabbit or a guinea pig to keep Tony company (Tony is our rabbit)

Main coon cat.
More boxer dogs...I don't know how many, but I'd like to raise them. And for them to be the non cat eating variety. My boy I have now is of the cat eating variety, hence no cats :(

I've always wanted a pet tiger. Then something like a big zoo display type thing with a bunch of different types of snakes :)

I know a guy that had a pet mountain lion. It was injured in by a car when it was just a cub and was blind in one eye. He got permission for the DNR to keep it aslong as he had a really high fence and he had to have it declawed...a fact for which I am very thankful :p:

That's awesome. How big did s/he get? I know they can get fairly large in the wild. Curious is regular feeding in captivity would increase that, capticity would make it smaller, or if it had no affect.

If I remember correctly...he was about 130lbs which is average. The guy that adopted him fenced in about 10 acres of land for him to run around on. He ate whatever he could catch without having claws and then the guy fed him various live stock. The first time I met the guy, I didn't know he had the kitty, I was pretty shocked when it came running up to me and even more so when he tackled me and started licking me. The thing was a big baby, loved having his belly rubbed.

I always joked that If I ever won lotto, I would build a huge reptile room in the basement and have quality zoo style cages in there for some different reptiles.

hobie237 always talks about buying an Iguana whenever we are in the LFS (the have a reptile section and they also have a paintball section, I haven't quite figured out how fish and paintball mix  .) He wants to finish the basement and put carpeting on the walls so he can let the lizard have run of the basement! I keep telling him he needs to work on getting a house first before he can finish the basement!

its moving, not moing, silly!

and 6 million gallons is a little extreme but I would love to build one of those monster fish tanks...kinda like this tank (http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60245&highlight=monster)...

Can you imagine a huge school of neon tetras swimming around in something like that!!!!!! :thud:

Hey, I can tell you Iguana's are wonderful pets. Mine is like a cat and likes to sit on my lap. We give him regular baths and treat him like one our furred pets. But I will give a warning though, they are a tough pet to care for. Need fresh vegies every day and greens as well. I suggest picking up a few books on them. i can make some recommendations. :D
But once you have every thing down, they are really great pets. The only, reason I am like this, I owned 2 iguanas due to people no longer wanting a pet that gets over 5 feet long and requires special feeds.

hobie237
01-19-2006, 11:37 PM
See! Iguanas are good pets!

I see another round of negotiations coming. I'm going to hire an attorney for this one.

And I'm going to start digging a ditch in the backyard to be a mega-tank, because I hold no decision-making power. If I'm lucky I'll finish in a few years.

Aren't hippos one of the deadliest animals on earth? Is a house hippo smaller? Instead of killing you will it only take off an arm or a leg? Do you have to supply it with lint or will it find its own? I'm intrigued!

Me personally, I don't care for exotic pets. It usually means more work to keep them. I'm happy with the standard dog, cat and fish mix.

But, if I had a choice I would want an Albino King Cobra (saw one once in a zoo in California) it just captivated me completly. Also, in about 2 months I will be raising quail for the first time. That is probably about as far as dream pets will go for me.

My dream pet came true last summer! I had wanted a domestic bengal for about 10 years. Then I got a chance to get a foundation cat - an F3! :D :D The big surprise was also getting a Savannah at the same time! Most recent pics of my kitty pets:

Wow, I have to admit that is one beautiful cat (coming from me, that is a hell of a complement). I personally don't care for cats; the ones I own are strays that decided to stay at my house. I feed them one coffee cup of food in the morning and night. The only reason I want them to hang around is rodent control (I live on a farm, I got mice). About 3 cats are good for that; any newcomers I hate to admit usually get "disposed" of.

Hmmmmm........ so many choices....

Since I'll never get them all anyways:

iguana
Black Emporer Scorpion
Mexican Black Kingsnake
Ball Python
a puma (that's tame and affectionate like a housecat)
a big aquarium (between 500- 1000 gallons)
a black lab
a golden retriever
cats (1 siamese, 1-2 bengals, and a few DSH)
an African grey parrot
a green winged macaw

and finally...

Someone else to care for all of them. I would just wander in and play with whomever I felt like until I wandered off again.

sigh....
a man can dream...

Maine Coon's are my next favorite and will be our next cat (my fiance's ultimate favorite breed). My coworker breeds Maine Coon's and evnetually she will give us a show cat for pet price with the obligation that we have to do a few shows with him. But that won't be for a while as we want to make sure we have enough room that our cats will be comfortable (we might have to wait to move to a bigger house).

Hope is our little acrobat! She just looooves to jump and show off. She will jump as high as my had and she is probably about half the size she will be. She will be the type to jump to the top of the fridge from a stand-still. I love trying to get the flying shots.

Here is our visiting cat Yogi. He will be bred to Meeka when she comes into heat:
Yogi (http://public.fotki.com/hurricanejedi/2006/yogi/)

Bengals are full of surprises too. Their vocalizations are immense. They love to investigate everything usually getting them into trouble. Meeka is food motivated and Hope is toy motivated. Yogi loves to give head buts and chat with you. Ahh the joys of kitties.

Your cats sound a lot like my boxer girl. She is very vocal, and will shove her snout into you to get your attention. She plays with toys a lot, more than any dog I have ever had. WOnder if they would get along? She is, of course..a princess. A pretty, pretty princess...so we tell her. I don't know how she would handle competition for the throne.
