Can they live in the filter media, like the filter fiber? They say that they live in the tank and populate so I'm guessing they can.
Also, I got a piece of LR dirt cheap from my LFS (it was discounted) it has like 6 of these feather duster looking things, except they are red, pretty small and there worm type shell is hard attached to rock, there stationary. Thanks.

Pods can live anywhere there is good water and food. Submerged filter media works--it just makes it a pain to replace, since you can spend hours removing all of the critters--or toss them out.

The others sound like stony tube worms--my name for them, anyway. Very common, they will reproduce in the tank, and those liitel stony tubes will be everywhere.
 
do you think I should worry about feeding them? if so what?
whenever I go up to the tank they go into hide out. Thank you.
