how many people here use silicone air tubing and are you satisfied with it. are there any drawbacks to using it?

I used it for a while once. It doesn't last as long as the regular tubing. It seemed to get caked with crud and get hard. The price IMO doesn't justify using it.

Silicone tubing is far superior to regular airline tubing. It's the same stuff most people for CO2 injection. When regular tubing is used for CO2, it will leak and eventually turns into a rather unpleasant mush.

Silicone does not degrade or "stiffen up" as fast as regular tubing does.

You can also buy ozone resistant tubing as well, which is superior to silicone, and far more expensive. However I have never used that for pumping air, so I cannot comment on how well it works just for that. I use it for CO2 injection.

Really, the stuff I used got stiff pretty quick. But, I haven't used an air pump in years.
