Just bought an Aquaclear 70 (300 ) for my 29 gallon tank. Will this be too much filteration for the tank? The tank has about 15 guppies, a mollie and 5 neons. Also my tank hood cracked where you lift the hood up. Anyone know where I could get just the hood without the light. My light is just fine. Would hate to go spend another 30 to $40 for a full hood. Also have a few guppies that look funny. They seem to have a dip in their back. Other than looking funny they seem ok. Had them from birth. Anyone else ever seen guppies like that?

yeh i've seen guppies like that. i think its from inbreeding they become deformed. i don't think they live as long and i think they can pass on their bent back gene to their fry. my friends tank had a few of them. when the females get old and have had alot of babies their back can bend from the stresses of childbearing as well i think... but the get a hump back not a dip.

i don't know about the other stuff. all i can say is i can't believe how cheap fish/aquariums are in america. no wonder so many people are into the hobby there. for a new hood for a 3ft(excluding the light, made out of raw timber... and badly made as well) it costsover $100 in australia. i made my own in the end lol and my boyfriends an electrician so he made my light which would have also been in the hundreds. such a rip off!

as far as too much filtration for a 29 gallon i would say no the AC 70 is a wonderful filter. but u may run into stronger current than ur fish are used too but u can adjust the intake and outflow of the AC's so i guess just play with it and see.
