Hello All!

I was thinking about getting a 2.5 gallon mini-bow as a betta tank for my room. I already have two ten gallons, but was interested in getting a single betta tank. Anyways, I was just wondering if I could keep some ghost shrimp with the betta in that size tank? If so, how many shrimp could I put in the tank without overstocking it? If not, are there any other freshwater inverts that could go in that tank?

Thanks so much!

Shrimp should be fine. I raised my ghost shrimp with a betta. The betta recently passed away and I added a new one- he didn't attack the shrimp either.

Make sure they're a decent size if you buy them (the shrimp). Mine was really small when I bought him and the betta nipped at him a few days but then stopped. I think you'll be most likely fine, no promises though. In my experience ive had no problems.

Probably depends on the temperment of your fish, it's always a gamble. If thats what you want then try. I dont know about how many, but I would only buy one or two. They grow to be about an inch, mine is around that size.

Other than shrimp ive found aquatic dwarf frogs go great with bettas in small tanks.

Hope i helped.

I agree with fish temperment being an important consideration. One of my Bettas didn't like the 5 ghost shrimp introduced into his 10-gallon tank and quickly picked them off, one by one, in spite of me feeding all of them quite well and providing hiding places for the shrimp.

I've got one Betta that I'm certain would have behaved better, but that is all history.
